Wherever the waves are is where you’ll find Bradford Knight…chasing thrills and living his dreams. Some people might think suffering is the key to an artist’s creativity, but Brad's muse is channeled through his love for the ocean and warm sunshine-filled days that elicit good vibes and good feelings. Just like Jimmy Buffet sells escapism, Bradford Knight seems to live within and harness it.
As a promising student in the hotel and restaurant management school at Purdue University in Indiana, Brad dropped out of college and moved cross country to begin an adventure as a nomadic surfer following a dream. Empowered by the freedom and inspired by the journey, he began putting his experiences to song, writing melodies and lyrics, and entertaining his friends on his old acoustic six string. Of course, at the insistence of his father, Brad returned to Purdue to finish his degree; but like a fish to water, it wasn't long before he was back on the sandy shores answering the call of a beckoning wave.
While Brad's early works come almost exclusively from the surfer's perspective, the country music influences of his high school and college years have begun to break through in his writing, broadening his musical repertoire, and shaping him into an artistic personality that has affectionately been dubbed the surf cowboy!
Bradford’s musical influences cover a wide spectrum of artists from Tom Petty, the Eagles, Johnny Cash, Elvis, and the Beatles, to punk bands, classic rock, and golden oldies. Bradford’s own music has been compared to Chris Isaak, Jack Johnson and Weezer, with Jimmy Buffet-like lyrical humor as well as Johnny Cash and the Zack Brown Band, to name a few.
Bradford Knight has also created the music of Brada Brad, a youth-oriented personality whose songs are loved by adults as much as the kids. www.bradabrad.com
